I’m Ben, a Chicano designer studying IxD at ArtCenter, based in Los Angeles.
I’m a product of late-2000s CD binders, after-school programs, and computer lab games – where curiosity first met technology. I'm Ben – I'm a Chicano product designer, forever-student, and (sometimes) beat-maker based in LA.
My journey into product design started unconventionally – through sample-based beat-making in Ableton during the early pandemic. That tactile sense of remixing, sequencing, and storytelling led me to design tools like Figma and Framer. What began as a creative survival instinct has since transformed into a clear career: crafting visual systems and interactive experiences rooted in empathy and intention.
From redesigning a nonprofit’s web presence with build4good, to creating sustainable hi-fi speakers with NYU’s LA Global Green Fellowship, to leading digital branding for NYU Athletics – my work spans tech, media, and community-based initiatives. I’ve built portfolio sites for peers, interned with startups and agencies like Bullish, and always come back to the same driving force:
How can design serve the people and places that raised me?
